V.G Bitumen

Pure bitumens classified by viscosity

It is commonly referred to as a grade of refinery bitumen obtained from vacuum aeration of bottoms in a distillation tower and is divided based on viscosity. This type of bitumen is most commonly used in road construction, insulation, construction, and the production of liquid bitumen.

In the classification based on viscosity, bitumens are classified according to their absolute viscosity at 60 degrees Celsius or kinematic viscosity at 135 degrees Celsius. Absolute viscosity is expressed in Poise and kinematic viscosity in centi Stokes.

The temperatures of 60 and 135 degrees Celsius are the summer road surface temperature and the asphalt mixing temperature, respectively.

AC-30 bitumen is more suitable for temperate climates.
